On February 1st, the Institute of Innovative Technologies started a project: “Central Register of Risks – system for the management of expert knowledge and information on security risks in rail transport”, under the acronym CRZ. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The aim of the project is to develop a central information system enabling cooperation of entities for the purpose of joint assessment and monitoring of a railway infrastructure system (in accordance with article 4 of EU Resolution 1078/2012). The system will be based on the exchange of information between enterprises related to the railway industry and will support the assessment of threats and decision-making (DSS) regarding the selection of security measures. The results of the project will have a significant influence on improving the efficiency of using SMS and MMS procedures in rail transport, improving the quality of assessments and analyzing threats as well as increasing the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions. This will be achieved by the support from the group of experts and the use of the knowledge base that provides data from the entire industry about threats, methods of counteracting and correcting the results of incidents. The users of the system will be companies dealing with passenger and freight transport, companies involved in infrastructure management and rolling stock maintenance, market regulators, management boards of railway companies, people responsible for safety, and users of SMS and MMS systems.
